Late Night Jazz: Inês Loubet at the Royal Albert Hall

Written by:

On 15 October, the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room will take on a distinctly late-night mood as Portuguese singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Inês Loubet brings her blend of Latin jazz, Tropicália and soulful grooves to London.

Part of the Royal Albert Hall’s much-loved Late Night Jazz series, the evening begins at 9.30pm, with doors opening half an hour earlier. It is the sort of concert designed for lingering rather than rushing through the evening: arrive for a drink, settle into the intimate Elgar Room and let the music take over.

Loubet’s sound draws on the rich musical traditions of Portugal and Brazil while remaining firmly contemporary. Her work moves between poetic songwriting, intricate harmonies and rhythmic arrangements, with the influence of Brazil’s Tropicália movement giving her music an unmistakably adventurous edge. Songlines has described her as reminiscent of the era’s groundbreaking sound, with echoes of Brazilian icons including Marisa Monte and Elis Regina.

There is something particularly fitting about hearing this music in the Elgar Room. Away from the scale and ceremony of the Royal Albert Hall’s main auditorium, the space offers a more intimate setting for artists who thrive on atmosphere, rhythm and close connection with an audience. The room’s bar will be open after the doors, while the Café Bar at Door 12 offers somewhere to arrive early before the performance begins.

The evening is listed as a Relaxed Performance, with the Elgar Room wheelchair accessible, making the event an inviting option for a late-night cultural outing that feels informal without losing the sense of occasion that comes with the Royal Albert Hall.

Loubet arrives with a growing international audience and a musical vocabulary that refuses to sit neatly within a single category. Jazz is there, certainly, but so are Brazilian popular music, soul and the freedom of Tropicália — all brought together through a distinctly personal approach to songwriting and performance.

For Londoners looking for something beyond the usual Thursday-night plans, this is an evening made for music, cocktails and a little after-dark escapism. Inês Loubet performs at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room on Thursday 15 October 2026. Doors open at 9pm; the performance begins at 9.30pm.
