STRIP TOWER (962) carries the German painter’s ongoing artistic investigations into an alpine landscape, extending his practice beyond the flat canvas into a three-dimensional installation. The sculpture takes its starting point from Richter’s celebrated Strip series of abstract works. Standing five metres tall, the piece is composed of eight perpendicular panels, each clad in glazed ceramic tile arranged to form vertical bands of colour. The intersecting arrangement allows viewers to step inside the installation itself, while shifting light and weather conditions continually alter how the work is perceived.
Installed with support from the non-profit Luma Foundation, the piece will remain on view in the Engadin through 2029.
